Edensor Village - Next to Chatsworth House - runs an open garden event in summer and in the church yard is buried President Kennedy's sister (https://www.jfklibrary.org/learn/about-jfk/the-kennedy-family/kathleen-kennedy) It is thought that the architect Robertson approached the Duke to show him the plans when he was busy with other matters and that after quickly looking through them he could not make up his mind and chose all the different styles in the book. The designs ranging from Norman to Jacobean, Swiss-style to Italian villas are all here at Edensor.
Matlock - Lumsdale Falls Walk Postcode DE4 5NA; /// tower.barn.brand This lovely Lumsdale Falls walk is one of our absolute favourites and it packs an awful lot of interest into a short distance! It explores the stunning Lumsdale Valley, just outside Matlock. An area with a fascinating industrial past, it’s now a peaceful, wooded valley with romantically overgrown mill ruins standing beside waterfalls.
Stepping Stones - Millers Dale Monsall Car Park - Chee Dale Stepping Stones
Sheltered beneath the Monsal Trail, is the peaceful nature reserve of Chee Dale where the River Wye meanders through a deep limestone gorge, and two sets of stepping stones provide access to walkers through the dale.
Hathersage stepping stones not far from Hatersage Train Station
Dovedale Stepping stones are always very busy
Creswell Craggs - near Clowne J30 M1 https://www.creswell-crags.org.uk/ The Gorge and small lake are easy to walk around. There are caves here and tours available.
